Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today dedicated Makeshift Hospital at Paraur in Palampur Sub Division of Kangra district virtually from Shimla for Covid-19 patients. In the first phase, the Hospital would have bed capacity of 250 beds.
While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister thanked the Radha Soami Satsang Beas for providing this space to the Government for constructing this Makeshift arrangement. He said that the volunteers of Radha Soami Satsang Beas would provide food to the patients and their attendants free of cost which was a great service towards humanity. He said that all beds in this Makeshift Hospital were equipped with oxygen supply to ensure better treatment to the Covid patients.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the State Government has laid special emphasis on capacity building in health infrastructure to facilitate the patients. He said that it was due to the efforts of the State Government the Central Government has enhanced the oxygen quota of the State from 15 MT to 30 MT. He said that now the Government has urged the Centre to increase the same by 10MT for which the Government has agreed in principle. He said that the State Government has also increased the number of D-Type cylinders from 2500 to about 6300 thereby enhancing the storage capacity of oxygen by 25MT. He said that not only this, the bed capacity has also been increased from 1200 to about 5000.
The Chief Minister said that the main focus of the State Government was to ensure timely detection of Covid-19 patients so that they could be provided timely treatment. The State Government was also ensuring that patients get proper and timely treatment in Covid hospitals and Covid care centres. He said that during last few days the recovery rate has gone upto 83 percent which was the matter of satisfaction. He said that the Government would also ensure the patients in home isolation were regularly contacted so that their health parameters could be monitored and treatment could be provided accordingly.
Jai Ram Thakur said that to ensure the speedy recovery of Covid patients the State Government was also providing home isolation kits to them. He said that the elected representatives must ensure that these kits were made available to the Covid patients at the earliest. He also thanked the Central Government for providing all possible help to the State in fighting this pandemic.

Vidhan Sabha Vipin Singh Parmar while speaking on the occasion said that 250 bedded Makeshift Hospital at Paraur would help the people of Kangra district in particular to get better Covid treatment. He also thanked the Radha Soami Satsang Beas for their philanthropic gesture and appreciated the efforts being made by the Chief Minister in sailing out the State during this difficult time.
Health Minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal said that the role of several religious organizations and NGOs was commendable in tackling the Covid situation in the State. The Makeshift Hospital at Paraur was completed in a record time which would facilitate the patients of the area.
Additional Chief Secretary J.C. Sharma and Secretary Health Amitabh Awasthi were present with Chief Minister at Shimla whereas Member of Parliament Kishan Kapoor, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha Indu Goswami were present at Paraur on the occasion.
Sukh Ram Chaudhary presents cheque of Rs. 3.11 crore to Chief Minister
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was presented a cheque of Rs. 3.11 crore by MPP and Power Minister Sukh Ram Chaudhary and Additional Chief Secretary Power Ram Subhag Singh on behalf of HPSEB Ltd. towards the Himachal Pradesh Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund here today.
Chief Minister thanked for this noble gesture and said that such contributions go a long way in helping the needy and poor during the hour of distress.
Managing Director HPSEB Ltd. R.K. Sharma was also present on the occasion.
