Governor Bandaru Dattatraya has expressed his concern over the news item that has appeared in a section of Media today in which it has been reported that a Minister and MLA were restrained to enter in a temple. He said that he was deeply hurt by this incident in Himachal Pradesh which is known as Devbhoomi.
He said that Constitution of India gives right to equality to every citizen and it also fully safeguards rights of citizens. Discrimination on the basis of caste in the society was against the spirit of Constitution.
He said that rights of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and OBC were protected due to provisions made in the Constitution.
The Governor said that Himachal Pradesh was known as the land of Gods and such type of incident in the state was a matter of concern. He requested the Chief Minister to issue directions to make the people aware in this direction.
