Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) in collaboration with GVK-Emergency Management Research Institute (EMRI) organized an imperative ‘One Day First Responder’ training programme for officials from various branches of Himachal Pradesh Secretariat at Shimla.
Director-cum-Special Secretary (Revenue-Disaster Management) D.C. Rana during the inaugural session of the training programme spoke on criticality of awareness and preparedness for medical first response for exigencies that may arise due to any situation.
Lead instructor from GVK-EMRI, Ganesh Dutt spoke on the cardinal principles of providing First Aid on the occasion.
Several issues related to medical emergencies, trauma emergencies, pediatric emergencies, environmental emergencies, etc were discussed during the training programme. Signs and symptoms of each of these emergency conditions were shared in detail and participants were also informed about the DO’s and DON’Ts in such situations.
A session of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was demonstrated to the participants; which was followed by a practical hand-on learning experience. Thereafter a post knowledge test was also conducted during the programme.
