Rs. 859 crore sanctioned for Himachal Pradesh under Annual Samgra Shiksha Yojna

The Union Ministry of Human Resources has sanctioned Rs. 859 crore to Himachal Pradesh for the Annual Samgra Shiksha Yojna for the year 2020-21. Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj informed that this approval was given during a video conference with the Ministry of Human Resources today.

The Education Minister said that keeping in mind the state government’s unique initiative to start pre-primary classes to further improve and strengthen primary education with the objective of ensuring quality in school education under the overall education program, additional teachers would be deployed in 3850 primary schools to increase pre-primary classes. The honorarium of these teachers would be funded by the Central Government. This would further boost the pre-primary education in the state.

He said that pre-primary classes would be started in 100 more schools in the state. To further promote vocational education, 50 percent additional new schools have also been approved. He said that this program is already functional in 953 schools of the state. He said that approval has also been given for providing information and communication technology facility in 218 new high and senior secondary schools under Digital Initiative.

The Education Minister said that e-tendering of ICT labs was being done in 200 new schools. He said that there are 2740 high and senior schools in the state and this programme is already running in 2137 schools of the state. Training would be imparted to all PGTs and lecturers of the state by NCERT and National or resource person for quality enhancement and school leadership under the ‘Nishtha’ programme in the year 2020-21 like previous year. He said that funds would be provided for maintenance of 35 Block Resource Centre (BRC) buildings.

He said that Youth Eco Clubs would be established in every school and Rs. 5000 would be provided for primary school, Rs. 15000 for middle and Rs. 25000 for senior secondary schools.

Senior officers of Education Department were also present during video conference.
