Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj said that Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has today announced Swachhta Sarvekshan-2020 award. He said that this year Himachal Pradesh has been successful in achieving better ranking than Swachhta Sarvekshan- 2019 award.
He said that this year the ranking of States has been divided into two categories in which Himachal Pradesh has achieved 6th ranking in first category. Whereas during Swachhta Sarvekshan- 2019 awards in the same category the State had received 20th place. Apart from Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Sikkim, Assam, Goa, Telangana, Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalya and Kerala states were also included in this category .
Suresh Bhardwaj said that the ranking of Urban Local Bodies was also done in two categories. 382 cities were included into this category, in which Shimla City has got 65th rank, which was 128th in previous year. Similarly, in first 200 cities with population of 25 to 50 thousand, five cities Nahan, Solan, Mandi, Baddi, Paonta Sahib of Himachal Pradesh have been included.
He said that 48 other cities of Himachal Pradesh have also succeeded in achieving good rank in the ranking of urban local bodies with population upto 25 thousand.
